I know its a big ask but, if I cannot find one, would someone do an accurate drawing with pictures? and I would try to get a few made??????
The bridges on my D8 are exposed to the world and it don`t feel right... |

I think I may have found enough pics of the 53 bridge covers to maybe get some made but I am not quite sure about the back of the plate, can anyone tell me, did you have to undo the screws and remove the cover to replace a string? on the pics I have found, the covers are not like a tunnel .open at each end.... the back looks closed |

Brad I would buy them but those are not the same as was fitted to this guitar, the 53 had a couple of flanges and a screw in each side.... there are pics on the net.. |

Ah, I see. Thanks for clarifying with a photo.
Since you have the guitar, do you think that adding a bridge cover will make it harder to replace the strings? _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

John - yes, with the first Stringmasters such as the one you have, you have to unscrew the bridge cover to change the strings.
That's probably why so many of them got removed (and subsequently lost). |

I have a couple of the early Stringmasters and I have never had to remove the cover to change strings. |

Erv, are you saying the back part of the bridge cover is not completely closed and you can thread the strings through?. As I have not found any pictures that show the cover from that angle I have no idea, but from what I have so far seen I think they may have changed after 53.
I have some good metal workers down the road and I am sure they could make me some but I would like to get them right |

Sorry guys - I thought I had read that the covers had to be removed.
I found this picture which is Basil's Stringmaster that shows a better angle (and the ball ends of the strings).
I just spoke to Basil and he is going to take some more detailed pictures of the cover and a tape measure for you. |

Ahhh! all is revealed, thank you Jeff thank you Baz...
I wonder if I get some made if anybody else would like some ?? its probably just as easy to make a few once you have the job set out |

I have one more question looking at Baz`s guitar, should the necks be refinished apart and separate?, in other words not joined together with a paint job, and then bolted together...... |

Hi John
The necks should be refinished apart. If you manage to get the bridge covers done at a reasonable cost I would be very interested to know where - although I don't need bridge covers I have been trying to get other parts stamped but have so far found the cost prohibitive.

It maybe should be mentioned that the chrome diamonds on the front and back of the guitar aren't just for looks, they actually cover the ends of the rods that hold the guitar together. |
