Hello everybody!
my name is Ben, and im 23 from Israel.
Im a drummer almost 14 years now, but i started to get intrest in the Pedal Steel, mainly beacuse my big love to the west coast sound and the beautiful country music.
one thing led to another, and now i have a Pedal steel in my room, all tuned and such. (E9)
Im starting to exeprience it as much as i can, and trying to understand it by myself but its not enough.
My question is, what is the first step? Theres a lot in the intrenet, but not too much though.
should i buy books? onlinevideolessons.com? maybe some Mickey Adams ? music theory?
Thank you all! |

Without question order Jeff Newman's Right Hand Alfa DVD/CD. If you need to know where to get them Google Jeffran College and Fran will take care of you. You will never regret this purchase assuming you actually spend the time it takes to do what Jeff teaches....Wish you the best.
I would also highly recommend Mikeeys Book to start with. Can't go wrong there either.........clark |

+1 for the Winnie Winston/Bill Keith book. Being a newbie myself I find it good to have something that is limited compared to the wealth of information that can be found on e.g. this forum. Having all this information at your fingertips it's easy to get lost and simply have too many excerises...
Also I would recommend that you sooner than later sign up for a private lesson to have someone look at your technique, particularly the right hand. I suppose that Skype would be the most practical way for you (as for myself not living in the US). And then you can move on working through the book and then perhaps if you like the format take more lessons further down the road. |
