I was lucky enough to see them perform at a small, informal "First Friday" affair at the State Museum in Honolulu earlier this month. It was great! Not just a featured artist with two back-up players but a real trio: three top-caliber musicians trading energy back-and-forth with each other and with the audience. It was just wonderful musical entertainment. |

Not taking anything away from Bobby by any means, but this is not a new aggregation. This is Alan Akaka's Islanders without Alan Akaka and substituting Bobby Ingano.
Alan, Kaipo, and Gary have been playing together since their Halekulani Hotel gig 15 years ago. |

We know that. And I don't think they call the group Alan Akaka's Islanders(?) when Bobby plays steel with Gary and Kaipo. According to Ron Whitfield,- they are the Bobby Ingano Trio.
When Kaipo substitutes for Alan on Thursday nights at the Marriott,- they are still Alan Akaka's Islanders.

It looked like those guys backed up just about everyone during the Waikiki Steel Guitar festival last week. Looks like they have a lock on the rhythm section market for steel players in Honolulu... _________________ Steve Marinak |
