That's going to look amazing when it's all back together.

Which model Gator case is that? Is it for a mixing desk or something?

Looks like what I need for my Custom T8.

yes Jeff. it's a 20x30 mixing case. its perfect for a t-8, although a little thick, but you can use an eggshell type foam filler. it also has wheels. the guitar is turning out so nice, that I wanted a nice case to go with it

Erv, I found original finish in areas that I know had not ever been touched on the guitar in a walnut finish. the guy that done the finish work said it was not walnut wood, but he did not believe it was swamp ash either. so we tried to get in the range of the orginal color with a few more highlights. I think it turned out great' heres a pic with the fretboards just laying on it

let me also say that I don't advocate refinishing just to make a guitar look better. original is always best if you can find it. unfortunately this guitar had been horribly painted by someone years ago, and refinish was the only option

That looks great! Did you salvage the original decal or get one made?

The Gator case is a great idea. I might have to get one for my D-8 National.

Jack, That's going to be a beauty. My Dad bought me a brand new blonde T-8 Custom for Christmas in 1953. Sure wish I had kept it. I got the pedal steel fever in '58 and traded it for a new Fender 400.

Yes I did. Had a good Daddy too. He drove me 60 miles, one way, once a week, after working in the oil field all day, for a steel lesson. He did this for three years.
He wanted to make sure I had the chance that he never had.

Bob,
I got a Fender triple neck in 1954 but by then they were building the Stringmaster. Your story parallels mine, when I ordered my first pedal steel from Sho~Bud I sold my T-8 Stringmaster. However, some years later, I had the chance to buy it back and I jumped at it. It had seen considerable neglect in the meantime so I gave it a lot of TLC and got it back in shape again.

That's a nice one Erv. I've often wished I could find mine, but I have no idea where to look. I traded it in to a music store in Odessa, Texas in 1958.

I think a lot of people who sold or traded them would like to have them back. I bought a D-6 in 1957 then traded it for a Fender 400 four years later in Massachusetts. Two years later I was back to playing non-pedal.
