Well..I've done it.
Bluegrass dobro guy buys PSG. Anyone (Mr Anderson) like to date a Classic s/n 2C5598?
Currently has 8P/5K.
Thanks to Jeremy Steele for a great deal and Mike Auldridge who told me "it was more fun than the first 6 mos of marriage".
Also thanks to the Carter folks for the generic.."how to take out of case and set up" instructions.
Lessons forthcoming. It'll be a joy not having to fake those chords any more :-)

Howard P....First of all, I appreciate your playing an MSA.
I still have the original and only MSA production records in existence, and I'm always glad to do my best to help validate any guitar or answer any questions about MSA.
Donnie H....is correct, (I'm impressed Donnie) serial number 2C-5598 shows to be a walnut double 10 which left the factory with 8 pedals and 4 knee levers. It was originally shipped to a man named Tommy Key. The date of manufacture shows to be May 22nd 1977. |

The guitar is showing it's age cosmetically, but, appears to be in solid shape.

Congratulations on the acquisition. I've been participating in your resoguit list for several years. I know that you've been playing dobro with a band called DeSoto for some time. Do you and the other members of DeSoto see a place for pedal steel in that band?
I ask because I acquired a pedal steel in early 2003. My bluegrass band has recorded and performed with both my dobro and my lap steel, but the idea of PSG is meeting with "some" resistance. |

Hi Bryan,
While DeSoto delves into some eclectic material, we'll remain acoustic.
The PSG will be played to scratch another personal itch!  I do occasionally play a Fender Custom in western swing/older country jams/gigs...I'm really fascinated with the Bakersfield sound and country jazz fusion of the Emmons/Gatton variety.
Figured I'd get a guitar that was up to the task. I have a fair grasp of theory, at least in the context that I'd been playing. The possibilites with this guitar are probably well beyond my current understanding.
No telling where this'll lead me.
