Hi Ron. If I am wrong than someone please correct me but my best guess is yes its an MCI and the best way I can tell considering its a shaky old VHS camera recording from the 80's is that you can see the almost 45 degree angle of the back of the changer which is how MCI's are. Man that back neck sounds sweet and soulful.

I love his tone here - nice and warm! A young Brent Mason, too!

Quentin, Buddy took that from a Barney Kessell blues. It may have been called "Contemporary blues."

I think Buddy played "At E's on his "Steel Guitar Jazz Album" back in the 60s.

It still makes me shake my head what E was doing back in the 60s. The Jazz Album, the Black Album. Most everyone else was still trying to figure out what to do on E9.

One of my favorite songs on the Black Album was "Kicks to Boot". Unbelievable authority, attack and phrasing.

His "Live 77" album is also one of my favorites. Man what a rhythm section on this album. Man, anybody that couldn't burn with that rhythm section just has no hope.

I will never forget how great Larry London and Randy Goodrum played.

Buddy Emmons is a true Jazz musician in every sense of the word. In my life time I have never heard anything quite like him.

I am not aware of anyone that can play 5 notes and you know exactly who it is!

He's my horse if he don't ever win a race.

Nope. I sent E and email today and he said it was a Barney Kessell tune and he couldn't remember the name of it.

Buddy used to call it C Blues Slow. It might be a tune called Big D Spree.

(He also called S.S. Cool C Blues Fast.) Smile

It does sound similar to Big D Spree, but not quite the same. You can hear Maurice Anderson's cut from "The Sound of MSA" here: http://vinylbeat.com/album-11-smallLabelTexasCnW.html
