I have recently started a new Internet radio show on Orange County Rock Radio. ..as a deejay. It will run for a few weeks.
http://www.ocrockradio.com/
As the name implies, it is a rock music station. The show I compere is called "Instrumentally Yours" and it runs from 9 pm to midnight Pacific Time ( GMT - 8 hrs) on Sundays. Per the title, it focuses on instrumental music and also vocal tracks that have great guitar instrumental breaks in them. I am slanting towards instrumentals that have a steel or slide guitar or dobro, so its not Hawaiian or country but more slanted towards the soft rock, blues, surf, and other contemporary genres.
Some of the tracks I played last Sunday were:
- Sleepwalk (Jeff Beck)
- Woodstock (Matthew Southern Comfort)
- Come Together (Beatles)
- River of Tears (Eric Clapton)
- Cocaine (J.J. Cale)
- California Girls ( Hank Marvin)
- Everybody Hurts (Kay Das and Charles Campbell)
- While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Jeff Healey)
- Hotel California (The Eagles)
So, listen in next Sunday and tell your friends. One small way to get the sound of the steel (and similar sounds) a little bit more into public focus and awareness....maybe... So far the feedback has been appreciative..
