Any comments on the differences between the two ?
Haven't used the 614 much but it took a long time for me to find one in Mint condition. On the other hand, the Session 500 sounds great !
Thanks ! |

Hi John,
I was sold on the 500 the first time I played one. The only drawback was the weight. Finally found one that was separated in two pieces. Head in one cab ,speaker in another. Actually 2 speaker cabinets. Sounds great, and not too heavy. _________________ Sierra 14 string E69, Nashville 400, Nashville 112, MB-200/ MB 500 Tommy Huff 1-15 Cab. |

Session 500 is my favorite amp, it is heavy, but it sounds awesome, and for the price, you can't beat it with the stick... _________________ www.steelguitarsonline.com |

I own both amps but the 500 is the most incredible of the two in range and tone. My Webb is a two-piece and easy to move but my 112 lb wife has trouble loading the 500 in the trunk, because it's like lifting an extra her-self. |

Hey John:
I had two Webbs back in he late 70s and absolutely loved the sound I got from my D-10 push-pulls through them. Unfortunately, they didn't withstand the hard miles of the road too well back then so I relied mostly on my Session 400s or Evans Amps which did. They sounded great too. I believe the issue with the Webbs and travelling may have been remedied later into the 80s.
I never owned a Session 500 but played through them quite a few times when they were provided as back-line on big, package shows. My impression then was that they were somewhat harsh sounding. I never had much time to really get a 500 dialed-in though in all fairness.
Just my 25 cents for what it's worth. Hope you're well John. You too Tommy and btw, I'm taking your advise about the verb and Eminence for my 112. Thanks man !!
Sincerely,
Chris "Tiny" O. |
