On the album this comes from lists both Paul Franklin and Nike Johnson. I'm probably wrong, but it kind of sounds like Mike.

I'm playing in sneakers mainly because of Nike Johnson. _________________ Olli Haavisto

A joke as stupid as that is not worth repeating, hence removed double post. _________________ Olli Haavisto

I was going to edit his name, but I like to leave the first post I make so the rest of the posts make sense.
The steel parts really scream Paul, but the tone and feel scream Mike.
When I am typing, whether it being on a keyboard or an iPad, my tremors being as bad as they are, when I go to hit a key, my finger will hit a different key by several keys. Not just the keys that are right around the one I want. It often takes longer to proof read and correct errors than it does to originally write it. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . This sentence was destined to be viewed as a negative either way it went, but I'm sure that wasn't your intent.
When you play at that level and on as many recordings as they have it is not unreasonable to assume they may sound alike somewhere in all those songs.
I've never noticed repeats of particular defining steel parts, feel or tone from song to song in Paul's Playing. He seems to me to change with each new song.
I don't have as many examples of Mikes playing in my archives but from what I do have I don't hear the same parts, feel and tone in each song with his plying either.
Can they imitate? They have the ability. Do they imitate? That's for them to know and not for me to judge. |
