I just bought a 40's Gibson BR 9 project. No pickup . I do not want to pay the prices for an original . Any suggestions ? Thanks. Looking at p-90 .

Jerry Sentell built a lap steel P-90 for my mid-fifties Gibson Century Deluxe. It's his model LS-5. His LS-3 would also probably fit the bill as a replacement for the pre-1951 BR-9's that had the racetrack pickup.

Don't be fooled by the guitarist's line of thinking that the higher the resistance the better the sound. The 4.3-ohm LS-3 sounds awesome in my Century Deluxe.

Bob,

I've got an original 1947 which came with my BR-9; I replaced it with a Seymore Duncan humbucker. Name your price.
