I have a BR-9, but I've never removed the pickup cover. Thought this was interesting. Got the picture on UK eBay...

That cover is clear plastic, painted on the underside and you can see where a couple of bits of paint have come off and got stuck to the body around a couple of the screw holes.
A BR-9 was the first lap steel I ever bought and I still use it a lot. When I'm doing a regular guitar gig I almost always bring it along as well and usually manage to use it on one or two numbers.
That one looks to be in really good condition. |

My first "electric" steel was one of those, bought it new in 1947. Sold it in Germany in '52.
Then, for some strange reason, I traded a mandolin for one at a local music store (??). Sold that one at a Joliet convention |

I still have mine, and use it for G/G6. _________________ 1958 D8 Stringmaster, 1958 T8 Stringmaster, 1955 Q8 Stringmaster (in basket), 1949 Gibson BR9, 1953 Silvertone, 1957 Harmony H4 (yeah the cool black pearloid one), 1947 National Princess, 1969 Shobud S10 3X1 |
