The first thing I would do is figure out how much reverb (if any) you want from your amp and how much (if any) you want from the device. In order to do that, start with the device switched off and get a reverb sound you like from the amp by itself. Then turn the pedal on and begin experimenting.
There is a bewildering array of options on these pedals and the only way I know to learn which options will work best for you is to begin methodically working through them. That will first invlolve selecting a mode. There are 11 of them on an RV3. (I normally used #4, Delay+Reverb, when I was still using an RV3 through an Evans FET500. In that setup I used verly little amp reverb -- like 1 or 2 max. and relied more on the reverb side of the pedal.)
Then, in each mode, adjust each of the other knobs one at a time and then in combinations and in that way familiarize yourself with what each of them actually do to the sound, separately and together. Eventually you will find a sound you like. _________________ Drew Pierce
