Has anyone out there got any info on the history of Emmons D-10 P/P serial # 1002 ?
I have contacted Emmons and they can't find the registration or anything, Its appears to have been light blue mica with black wood necks and 8x4, Carter says 1966 started at serial# 1024, so this is proably a 1965 ???
any help would be greatly appreciated !!

The type of changer will clue you in better
than that questionable Carter chart.
If it's a '65, it will have a wraparound
changer. '66 and '67's had the bolt-on type. |

Is there a "D" after the number?
According to the owner's list I've been compiling for several years now, #1002D should be a 1966 bolt-on. If your guitar is not a bolt-on, let me know.
If your guitar is a wraparound, #1002 would make it a 1965 guitar serialized by an invoice number. For example, #1024 is a '65 wraparound.
The "D suffix" series was started at 1000 to replace the "invoice number" system. My buddy in San Antonio owns a black mica bolt-on #1014D, Herby Wallace had #1006D a while back, etc.

I'm screwed up... I can't even read a complete post and retain the information for a minute without opening my big mouth and getting it wrong!
He said it was a "D", he said it was wood necks, blue mica, etc. Sheeesh!
So, I think it's a '66, based on the serial number, the blue mica, etc.

buster, your guitar is was likely built in 67...that year they started over with the ser numbers and added a D, the carter numbers are in some error in the early years. 65 and some 66 guitars were numbered with the invoice number...all wood neck guitars had bolt-changers...BA [This message was edited by Bryan Adams on 24 December 2003 at 11:21 AM.] |

I have # 1127D which would be the first 1967 produced if the numbering list I have is correct..It is (was 8 and 4 ) I added the vertical to it. |

So, according to Bryan, it looks like
anything with a "D" after the number is
actually made in 1967. |

My '66 D-10 Bolt-on P/P is #2615 without the (D). However I have a '66 S-10 Bolt-on P/P and it has the (S) in it's serial #. It is #1068-S. Both guitars are black mica. Herb, I think you used to play my D-10. NR [This message was edited by Nick Reed on 25 December 2003 at 09:27 AM.] |

Nick, does your bolt-on have a white case? I've owned 3 metal bolt-ons in my life, and they are now owned by John Smorada, Dicky Overby, and Bob Hoffnar. I did have possession of John Ely's bolt-on for awhile during his first sojourn to Hawaii, and this one might be the guitar you now have.
