I recently was given the task to reassemble a Pro 1 "in bags" and, while the assembly wasn't too taxing, there was a place on top for two pots (both A/B 500's ) and an old SPDT switch. I'm thinkin' ok- volume, tone, and bypass. The problem was that the pickup had 3 wires and was tapped at 10k/17k but there was no switch for the tap. So I go about wiring up the bypass switch and, for the life of me cannot get it to totally bypass both the volume and tone. Long story short- I contacted Dave Beaty who said neither he nor his engineers could figure out how to do it w a 3 contact switch and suggested I contact Ricky Davis which I did. Ricky was wonderful to talk to again but said he couldn't figure out how to do it and suggested that I contact James Morehead. I then sent an email to James and also contacted Craig Baker who told me it couldn't be done with a SPDT switch but needed a DPDT switch and diagrammed it for me. After trying it out and it worked I installed a DPDT switch in the endplate and wired it up using the original SPDT switch on top for a coil tap switch- that part was easy. I then received an email from Teresa and James telling me that there was no bypass switch in that guitar but the SPDT switch on top was for a coil tap tap switch . What a great resource you all are- thanks so much!! |

Totally agree. This forum has some of the best, brightest, and most generous people in the music industry. And you are included in that "most helpful" category, Jim.
I'm thankful every day that we have such a great group of people to associate with. _________________ Best regards,

It is my belief that among many other things, we are the sum of all the help we have been given along the way .
