Obviously Willie Nelson (boy, will I be embarrassed if it isn't), and Jimmy Day on steel? |

Hi Peter,
No need to be embarrassed, that is early Willie from his RCA days, with the great Jimmy Day on steel.
Kind Regards, Walter _________________ www.lloydgreentribute.com |

I looked up the word “sustain†in the Webster’s Dictionary. There was a picture of Jimmy Day next to the definition. The sustain we’re hearing goes beyond guitars – amps – studios – engineers or words. It’s coming straight from Jimmy Day.
This side is from February 22, 1967 for RCA at Studio “Bâ€. Listen for Grady Martin. You can hear Big Red and the Blackface Twin hit the tape on Grady’s Echoplex. I‘ve been told that Grady set the delay to be a little slower than then tempo of the song so the repeat would stand out.
Jeannie Seely cut this later in that year (April or September 1967) with Buddy Emmons on steel:
