B6 six string lap instead of C6?

From playing a U-12 pedal steel I have that B6 position stuck in my head. If I tuned the C6 down a half step or maybe change the strings to proper gauges and then tune to B6 would There be a disadavantage?

Yeah, makes sense to us universal players especially to get that C position on the first fret.
