I just downloaded this very interesting tool:

http://www.tuningvine.com/

It is a great hands on and practical way to use and understand Just Intonation.

A warning: It has very little to do with standard western music.

Is it practical in an on-stage situation?

It is very practical on stage if you are playing a concert of just intonation music. It will be of no use at all in most any popular music form.

Think of it like a microscope. It is great for understanding how the cement in a road is structured but would be of no use to somebody driving.
