I feel really blessed this summer. There are so many good Steel players coming to Montana this year. I can't properly how excited I am to get to see the following players over the next few months:
*Carco Clave! (Chuck Mead, @ Mt. Helena Music Fest)
*The Campbell Brothers (Montana Folk Festival!)
*Kahulanui (Hawaiian Swing? Not sure of the players, but I would be hearitful surprised if a Hawaiian swing band didn't feature steel)
*Chris Scruggs! (Marty Stuart, Top Hat, Missoula!)
I've only been playing a few years, and have been focusing on non-pedal- so the opportunity to see professionals of this magnitude is extremely exciting for me.
Hopefully this is the beginning of a new trend, and Montana is becoming the new Steel Guitar Mecca. Tell your friends! |

Aaron is in Missoula.
I'm in Billings, so will put your date on my calendar and try to run up there. What venue are you playing at? It's only an hour from here. Like Aaron, I'm a lap steel guy but like to see how you guys on "the dark side" handle all those strings and pedals, etc. It's all, and sometimes more, than I can do to keep up with the six strings I have to deal with!

The gig is in a huge event building up by the Golf Course, just west of Red Lodge. You take a right at the light at the north end of Red Lodge, like you are going towards Columbus.
We may add a Billings gig, so I will check back in with you as the date gets closer.
It was a great gig last year, and they love Steel... tons of Steel on every song.
