You'll need something like an IVL SteelRider module and the MIDI pickup that goes with it.

Sweetwater Music has a unit called a SONUS G2M.

It's monophonic MIDI and it doesn't track ultra fast.

For slow stuff it works pretty good and at $79 it's hard to beat the price.

Just plug your guitar straight into it no special pickups or anything.

How well it works is also dependant on the sound and dynamics of the JV880 settings.

An sound like strings or horns that don't have to imitate key strikes seem to work better than piano sounds for a pedal steel that is "slide" tone in nature.
