This CD has been renamed, "The Songs of Paul Hendel." And finally released. There was a problem with the full release due to CDBaby rules about cover art and CD titles. Anyway. it is now available on all the below listed venues. And for those of you in Sonoma County, California, you can also get it at the last record store.
By western music, I'm referring to a mostly acoustic, folk style of music with no drums and largely western themes. Some of you fans of this music may be familiar with a songwriter named Paul Hendel. Some of Paul's songs have been recorded as down the album cuts by Nashville people. One, "Eli Crow," recorded by Barry Ward, is Western Music Association song of the year this year. He died of cancer in 2008. His younger brother, Carl has just released a CD of Paul's songs with yours truly on steel guitar. I think that Carl's vocals and general approach to the music really capture the spirit of the music. I'm also very satisfied with my own steel guitar stylings. While I think my execution leaves a little to be desired, I think that on the whole this is an enjoyable CD for fans of Western Music and/or Paul Hendel. http://cdbaby.com/cd/carlhendel _________________ Amor vincit omnia

I'm a big fan of small productions because they make an emotional connection between artists and listeners. This album is a splendid example. We hear well crafted cowboy poetry songs, played by a duo in simple "around the campfire" arrangements. Best of all, we get to hear the wonderful acoustic resonator artistry of forum member Edward Meisse.
Eddie's not one to brag, so I'll do it for him. His 8-string C6th stylings are simultaneously traditional and unique, perfect for western music. His playing only hints at the instrument's bluegrass roots, being more reminiscent of 1930's western steel guitarists. I especially like Eddie's harmonic technique, a style of playing that you don't hear often in acoustic music.
All you reso and non-pedal fans should definitely pick up this album. _________________ -𝕓𝕆𝕓- (admin) - Robert P. Lee - Recordings - Breathe - D6th - Video |

Edward, you sound really good, man, on all the clips. "I Tried To Find You" really stood out. Well done!
I'll be picking this one up. _________________ Links to streaming music, websites, YouTube: Links |

Thanks, guys. It won't be a problem for the two of you. But I do usually warn that the subject matter addressed in cuts 7 and especially 8 May be a little much for sensitive types. There's no steel on cut 8 anyway. I hope you two guys enjoy my work as much as I liked yours. _________________ Amor vincit omnia |
