Does anyone happen to have a Rondo Lap Steel stand? These were sold for around $50 or $60 when the Rondo steels did not come with the screw on legs? If you have one you want to part with drop me a pm. _________________ GFI SM10 3/4, 1937 Gibson EH-150, 2 - Rondo SX Lap Steels and a Guyatone 6 String C6. Peavey 400 and a Roland 40 Amps. After I found this link http://www.rondomusic.com/lgs50.html in a couple of threads from 2014, out of idle curiosity I tried searching the Rondo site for "LGS50" and "LGS 50," but got no results. (I found out earlier that it wouldn't respond to "Lap2," but "Lap 2" brought up both the right- and left-handed versions.)
Searching "stand" on the site didn't find it, so maybe they did discontinue it but didn't completely delete the URL.
I hope this helps. I don't know if Rondo still has them, but I might want one some day, too.
Edit: Clicking "Add to cart" makes it say "out of stock." Dang. |

Thanks Doug, I spoke with the fellow there and he said they were out of stock but should be getting some more in, but said I would just have to check from time to time to see if they were in stock. _________________ GFI SM10 3/4, 1937 Gibson EH-150, 2 - Rondo SX Lap Steels and a Guyatone 6 String C6. I had a reply from Kurt at Rondo on another question, and I took the opportunity to ask about the stands, too. I hinted that at least two of us might be interested in one. |

Kurt's a great guy, but I can understand that he doesn't have time to notify me if one comes in. If you happen to see 'em on the site again, please drop me a PM and I will do the same for you. _________________ GFI SM10 3/4, 1937 Gibson EH-150, 2 - Rondo SX Lap Steels and a Guyatone 6 String C6. Okay, will do. Here's the reply I just found on the other site:

SX has stopped making the older style lap stand, but we may be able to get them to build one more batch as we has a number of customers asking. Will post on our web site if that happens. |
Sounds good to me. |

Yeah, I knew I should have bought one when I bought the guitar! I also have the one that has the legs with it, picked it up on a closeout. It was a left hand model, and I was planning to just modify it, but to my surprise when I got it it actually had a right handed nut on it already. Only thing is it puts the controls on the "wrong" side of the guitar and they turn adjust backwards . The controls are not in the way, and I can fix the direction by flipping a couple of wires, but just haven't taken the time to do it yet.
The one I bought with legs was the Ash model with the different pickup than the original. It will sustain forever. I put an aftermarket "blade" type pickup on my original due to the fact that the strings didn't line up correctly with the pickups on the original one. _________________ GFI SM10 3/4, 1937 Gibson EH-150, 2 - Rondo SX Lap Steels and a Guyatone 6 String C6. That's what I keep seeing in reviews about the Lap 2 (ash with P-90) model. Joe Dochtermann said something in an email about "ash, like in baseball bats" and got me laughing.

Did you use a humbucker-type blade? I'm not sure of the brand, but I think I read that somebody makes a stacked blade humbucker that's about the size of a single-coil, and I think I also read that somebody put one in a Lap 1 (mahogany with single-coil), and maybe even rigged it with a coil tap. I might have gone that route eventually if I got a Lap 1, but I chose the Lap 2 because of all the positive comments I saw on various sites.
My Lap 2 should be here next Tuesday, if not before. A Jay Leach First Lessons book and a set of GHS strings for it were in today's mail. |
