Here is another Zb Custom that I just completed. It is about a 73' or 74', S-11. It was originally 5 floors and 4 knees. I added one pedal and a LKV to it. This one was quite a bear to set up. It has a unique tuning and copedant. This is the "Lean & Mean E6th tuning, which also incorporates E7/E9/E13 tunings. The chord options seem limitless to me.
Once again, this guitar was completely torn down, polished, buffed, replaced a couple of changer fingers, etc. The front apron's maple is nice and curly. LKL is special. It has 4 pulls on it operating 2 seperate cross shafts. As some of you know, 4 pulls on a ZB knee is tricky but it will work. This lever is raising the E strings to F and lowering the 10th string A-G# and lowering the 11th string E-C#.
Hopefully, if I have done this right, you can click on the link below to get to my homepage. The guitar is pictured there, blue/blonde.

Tell me ZB's were not some of the most beautiful steels ever made. Great job Greg. |

Auset, that is one fine, fine ZB you've got there.

All this attention lately to the ZB has made me wish to have my 2 back. To me, the ZB was the most beautifully finished guitar ever made, followed closely by Sho~Bud. |

Bob, this blue/blonde S-11 no longer resides at my place. It is back home with its owner. As far as guitars "lurking" I guess you noticed the S-10 setting behind it covered up. That guitar is on its way to completion. It is being built out of all NOS parts, body, endplates, undercarraige, etc. Guess I need to straighten out my shop a bit!!!! LOL Actually I don't really have enough room to work, looking for a place now.
Hope all is well out your way!!!

Hey Greg:
A Beeeeauuutiful restoration. I wish I could find the photo that you sent me with the large, large cup of coffee sitting to one side of that steel.
Liquid motivation!!!
I think there should be a steel guitar repair/building Hall of Fame, too, and my nominee would be Greg for his tireless work on Zane Beck's wonderful guitars.
Everytime I see a photo of a ZB on the Forum, I walk over to my S-11, take of the cover, and grin from ear to ear. My D-10? Same grin except more drool...
Thanks, Greg, for keeping these steels looking and playing ZBest.

Well Greg - when your'e ready I've got lots of room for any one of your babies ha ha ha only thing that I need is the money.
We don't seem to have a spread of Z.B's here on the Island except my two - as far as I know........although I guess that per capita there are more steel players than I know of in such a small area.
All the very best with your Z.B. venture and wish that someday we could meet and talk .............what else????????????
