Herb called, his wife Melba passed away two days ago, she had been in home hospice and the hospital.

Herb is very much alone now. If you are acquainted with him and in the Houston area, consider contacting him.

Drew,

Thanks for letting us know. Sorry to hear this news. I was just thinking about Herb yesterday, ...although, I think about Herb Remington a lot. I had met his wife, but didn't really know her.

R I P old friend of many years. Mel had several close family ties with several country music legends and was a great entertainer in her own right.

Condolences from George and PJ Piburn.

When I first started Non Pedal with the TSGA in 2002 Herb was there for me in his Aloha Shirt and Hat when I was surrounded by Belt Buckles. He Quieted the area by saying "They just don't Understand".

Herb coined my Nick name Mr.Boards at the the Non Pedal Session which he has supported from day one.

It is very sorrowful to loose your life's partner. Our sincere condolences during this time of sadness. You are one of the most respected and admired men in the music industry and beyond, and I am sure your wife shared the same.

Dear Herb, Carol and I are so sorry for your loss. I remember so fondly that when we were in Austria, you would call Mel each night and express your love for your dear wife. A piece of your heart is aching. May God's grace and presence be near you now.
Sincerely, Bob and Carol Strum

MEMORIAL TO MEL REMINGTON

I spoke with Herb Remington regarding the loss of his wife, Mel. He said that they had been married for 63 years, and he is taking her loss hard. I reminded him that the last time I visited with him he gave me a recording of several songs entitled "HAWAII SWINGS" on which Mel sang 3 songs. I asked him if I could share these as a memorial to Mel. He liked the idea and said it was alright with him. He also told me that Mel had written 2 or maybe all 3 of the songs while they were traveling between performing engagements during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The following selections are songs which Mel sang on "HAWAII SWINGS" with Herb playing steel guitar. Both Mel and Herb are doing an excellent job on these songs.

So sorry to hear about Mel. I spoke with her on the phone many times, but never had the honor of meeting her. She was a fine lady. I also have the same Hawaiian LPs of her singing.

She also hand colored some fret boards I had gotten when I custom built a triple and single neck guitar I got from Herb in the 1990s. He was using color on his pedal steels at the time, but not for the non-pedal. So I asked for some, and he made them, and Melba hand colored in the fret boards for me.

My heart goes out to Herb and his family.

Herb,
Sorry I didn't see this till now. Sorry for your lose! Life is strange, in some cases it gives us someone to be a friend, a companion, someone we spend a life time with, and we are never ready when they're gone no matter how much time we think we have to prepare for that moment. Remember all the good times and forget most of any bad memories and celebrate her life with you. God be with you in this time.
