So, I got a Dunlop 470k "Hot Potz" to replace a bad pot in my pedal. It comes with this black plastic/rubber thing on the shaft. How does one remove this? I tried to pull off, but don't want to damage the pot. Is there a simple way to do this I'm not seeing here? I assume it has to be removed to fit the sleeve over it for mounting.

Thanks!

Todd,
It should slide right off the shaft, as mine did.

Perhaps slit it with a utility knife.

There is a small black circlip securing the cog. Once clip is removed the cog slides off.

Todd, the "official" way to get the circlip off is using a small pair of snap ring pliers. If you don't have those you could try something like this: take 2 small nails - hold them tight with pliers - put them into the little circlip holes - pull both nails outwards to bend the circlip open - let the pot fall into your chest or a pillow or the like. Be carefull though and don't let the nails slip off, you don't want to chip the pot through the room. Good luck!

I ended up using a tiny screwdriver blade to lift one side, then grabbed with a needle nose pliers and it came right off! Very Happy

Save it, it is a push pull C clip.
