I'm about ready to start rewiring my 1956ish Fender D6. I've looked at this wiring diagram: http://www.hawaiiansteel.com/graphics/pdf/fender_stringmaster_2neck_1957.pdf
while I've wired up many guitars over the years, I'm only accustomed to the Seymour Duncan/guitar wiring for dummies type of diagram. So I've taken a stab at translating it to make sure I've got everything going where it needs to... Hoping someone could take a look and see if I've got this right... Thanks!

OK, let me try this. It's the switch, I'm most unsure of. The diagram on hawaiinsteel.com has a couple arrow connectors on the diagram of the switch as well as lines connecting the lugs, and I'm not sure if they denote something different or if the arrows are just an attempt to make it easier to read... I'm assuming the latter but want to make sure so I don't have to do this twice.
Thx |

Pulled this out of my archives. It's for a D8 but I assume the wiring would be the same for a D6. This is for a 1957 model

Thanks. Doesn't help with my switch question but validates the other stuff so at least I'm on the right track! |

Thanks John, what I'm wanting to make sure is that the diagram of the switch in my drawing matches the switch in the diagram you posted. |

The diagram you posted is not for a Stringmaster... it's for a Deluxe. A Stringmaster has more than one neck... and, of necessity, a switch to switch between them. The outline of the plate is not that of a Deluxe, however, which does muddy up the situation.
A combination of your diagram and a (readily available) Telecaster diagram should be enough to get the job done. _________________ New FB Page: Lap Steel Licks And Stuff: https://www.facebook.com/groups/195394851800329 |

It should be easy enough to figure out your switch by testing continuity with a multimeter. As Stephen mentions, understanding a Tele 3 way might help.
Typically, a 3 way Fender style switch has 2 independent sides with each side having one common terminal each and 3 others that internally connect to their common when the lever is in position. Or to say, on a 3 way you are looking to identify 3 pairs per side. In the below diagram, A are the commons with positions 1 - 3. If you were pinning out this diagram, with the switch in position one, you have A and 1 on each stage connected. Position two, A and 2, etc. Once you pin it out, its just a matter of connecting the dots. This link may help to understand the workings of a switch a little better. http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/19691-mod-garage-how-to-wire-a-stock-tele-pickup-switch

Using a Tele 3-way switch diagram is a great idea and I don't know why I didn't think of it, as many teles as I've wired up. Thx! |
