Jeannie C Riley's steel player

Back in my hometown of West Plains MO, we had a country music theater back in'86'. The owner booked several country music artists with Jeannie C Riley as one first artist to do a show there. Her steel player was a nice guy and a very good player from what I can remember. I can't remember his name but he had relatively short black hair with a black beard and mustache. He wore glasses and was sort of dark complected and he played a black D10 Marrs steel guitar. Wondering if anyone knows who is and what his name is and whatever happened to him. I was fortunate to get to meet a lot of great steel players at that theater.
