Yes, same here. My current favorite is "Someday When Things Are Good".
I think this guy does an excellent job of it. Vocals are great, and the steeler is fine as well!

Think I'll Just Stay Here And Drink, Misery And Gin.
I played in an Haggard cover band, back in the early'90's. My daguhter, who was four years old, would run through the house. Singing, "Think I'll Just Stay Here And Drink. As much as I love the "Hag". It got old mighty quick.

I recognized "Working Man Blues" at around 23:48. Cowpunkish! Is that David Vaught on bass who played on many records and also Garth Hudson on accordion, Earnest? _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube.

If there were one song done by one steeler I'd like to do, it'd be The Way I Am. _________________ Those that say don't know; those that know don't say.--Buddy Emmons |

Merle didn't write it, but the Scene learned it from Merle (it was written by a guy who usually writes hard rock). Mike Auldridge on a push-pull. http://youtu.be/vgO4Ny1iK4U _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Out Among the Stars was written by Adam Mitchell, an Englishman.
I have his album that Out Among the Stars is on and it`s a beautiful singer/songwriter record, not a hard rock note on it.
He has since been a writer for hire, I think.
Out Among the Stars is such a beautiful song, I saw Darrel Scott perform it live last year, perfection.... _________________ Olli Haavisto

He cowrote 7 KISS songs, and both Wendy O. Williams and Chicago have cut some.
I've said before that Mike's playing on OATS is one of the 4 songs that that made me take up steel.
And of course the guy singing it is EmmyLou Harris' favorite singer. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

Lane, I just meant that before his professional writer days he was a SSW like so many in LA (where his album was recorded).
It`s worth looking up.

Oh yes, I couldn't listen to link you posted Barry, but I got out my vinyl record and compared them. I like the older version much better. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |
