I posted a kinda weird copedent in another thread  . I have thought a little about it and I came up with a question...are there any out there who have the 5, 6 and 10 string lower on a vertical knee lever? I'm mainly interested in Carter players who have this thange - is it possible to add this change, with so much travel for the lever, to a Carter?

I have two LKL, one lowers 6 and raises 1, both whole steps. The other left LKL lowers 5 & 6 only, one whole step.

I lower 5 & 10 a full tone on LKV, and lower 6 a full tone on my RKL (along with raising 1 a full and 2 a half). This way, I can use them together for the Franklin pedal, or separately. I find that I use them separately much more than together...
Carter owner, and no issues with this setup.

I do, on my Carter S10 DB.
I'm the only one I know of who does it.

I like it there. A lick in "What Do You Know About Love" prompted me to put it there, although Gary Morse plays the original and does not have it on the vertical.
The lick is where you come off the AB pedals to open, then engage the PF, then resolve to open.
It's so easy and natural to play with the PF on vertical.

So you lower all three strings, not just 5 and 6? Doesn't the lever get a little stiff and hard to engage then, or is it still easy to engage?

Three Strings, 5,6,10 lowered a whole tone.
No stiffness problem. I have the rods connected to the far end of the bell crank to benifit from leverage. It's not as easy as a pedal, but still very usable.
Try it. On a Carter it's easy to switch back. You'll just need an extra rod and bell crank. [This message was edited by Joey Ace on 03 November 2003 at 07:48 AM.] |
