Jonie had one of the best voices ever in country music, male or female. Strong, smooth, and always in tune are the words I'd use to describe her, |

I got to pick bass with them for a while in the 60's at the Ban-Dar club in Ventura Ca. I lived in Norwalk and would drive to their house by Hollywood, I think it was and ride with them to Ventura. I thought the world of both of them. Bill-Hoss-Huffman played guitar, Clyde Griffin piano, I can't remember the drummers name but he was a good one. I remember a guy named Merle Haggard at that time sat in, and some others. That was a great time in my life. If anyone remembers Bill-Hoss-Huffman I'm sure you will agree he was also such a neat person. Thanks for the memories guys. db _________________ Dale Bennett |

Hey Dale, I remember ol' Hoss very well. We were pretty good friends back in the old days.. He was very close to Al back in those days also. When Hoss was sick and close to passing Bruno was in the hospital almost every day visiting him.. I used to love to hear Hoss do the old Tommy Dorsey tune "Marie" on his Telecaster... About the time you were at the Ban-Dar in Ventura I was also in Ventura at the old "King of the Bass" out on the other end of town with a guy named Jim Hendricks (not the famous rocker)..... JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

You are so right Jerry. Al did not let Hoss go it alone. Hoss thought there was no-one better than Al. and Al loved ole Hoss also. Both were wonderful guys. _________________ Dale Bennett |
