I will be in the Memphis/Nashville area soon and would appreciate advice on where to purchase a pedal steel and obtain lessons to get started.
I was a roadie for my dad when I was younger and have been around gear pretty much all my life.
I am thinking 4 pedals and a number ? of knee levers.
Thanks |

I don't know of a shop in Memphis that keeps pedal steels on hand. Best bet is to visit Steel Guitars Nashville; the website and contact info is under links. Vic Lawson will likely have several to choose from. |

and craigslist - although, I'm always amazed there are so few for sale, in a town flush with players. |

Hi James, You might look up Chuck McGill. He has a store in Jackson, TN called 'The Bandstand'. Jackson is between Memphis and Nashville, a little closer to Memphis if I recall. I bought a used Emmons P/P from him a few years ago and the deal went according to plan and he was a good guy to deal with. He is a forum member and you can probably find him in the memberlist. The Bandstand also had a website. (The bandstand.com?) I am hesitant to post phone numbers online, but I'll send him a personal message and let him know about your post here. Also, recommend Vic Lawson at Steel Guitar Nashville. Great store, Great folks.
Good luck, Larry _________________ Website: www.Music2myEars.net
