Does anyone have any idea what the overall audience head count was over the three day Dallas Steel Jamboree? _________________ GFI D10-8/6 Black/Red

Hey Don,,,,that would be some interesting information to see. Considering the fact that time has a way of exacting it's price from all of us,,,,and considering the enthusiasm of young people for steel guitar,,,,would you think that the attendance is going up,,,or,,down, these past 25 years???? |

I wonder if the Saturday night show could be a Family night. Do some advertising to inspire families to come to the show with their children. Make a package price for them. I'm referring to people outside the usual attendee's. This would give exposure to a younger generation. Filling up the main room would inspire the players. There incredible player's with great histories who need to be exposed to a younger generation. For example, have a $25 package price for the whole family. I wonder if something like this would work. This would be great if Joe Wright continues to perform. They would love him. |

Actually Sonny I don't know. I have asked this before and never really got an answer. It would be nice to compare the Dallas shows to St. Louis and others from year to year mostly out of curiosity. Really the reason I was curious this year is my wife won the Justice SD10 ProLite in the drawing this year and probably most folks that came had their name in the box and hers was the first name that was picked...What were the odds of that?? I had talked to you earlier at Dallas and said I had bought the Zum Encore to lighten the load on my old body and then she won that guitar that's only a couple lbs heavier and... wow. I am in love with that guitar by the way. Anyway nice visiting with you again.
Joe: I didn't mean to imply there weren't many folks at Dallas. I thought there was a very good crowd the whole weekend and especially on the Saturday night show. This was the first time I have been in a couple years and it gets better each year. It's just that I know there were a lot of people there and I was wondering how many total. Maybe we're not supposed to know. No big deal . _________________ GFI D10-8/6 Black/Red

The family night thing sounds interesting. But how will you get the word out to the families that are not already part of the steel guitar circles, or friends of one? I don't think newspaper ads would do it. Radio ads? Probably not. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . Don, that was my wife that drew your wifes name for the guitar. I am happy you really like the guitar. I thought we had a good crowd this year considering Paul Franklin had to cancel and Mike Johnson was touring. Buck Reid and Doug Jernigan draw a good crowd and are great players. |

I would approach the schools or possible churches. The purpose would be for drawing some younger people who might like what they hear and decide they want to learn to play the steel. |

Paul... tell your wife much thanks for drawing my wife's name. That was cool. It meant a lot to me since I'm the one that gets to play it:-).
Joe...I thought the turnout was very good this year anyway. Albert Talley and the crew are doing a fine job. _________________ GFI D10-8/6 Black/Red
