As I've mentioned before, I'm a disabled guy and don't have the strongest or quickest arms. That's one reason I started playing lap steel to begin with- standard guitars just don't work for me ergonomically.
My problem is that heavy slides are really hard for me to use though they definitely produce the best sound to my ear. I have a glass tube style slide that I can fly around the fretboard with but the sustain on the lower strings is terrible. Is there a solution for me or should I just get used to it? Would a harder material work, like anodized aluminum? Thanks for any suggestions- |

Some folks use the Paloma slides and have good things to say about them. I've got 2 myself. Reasonably priced.
Here's a link to Jays site. He's a nice guy too!

i use this slide for 6 or 8 string work. take any slide you like...i would suggest brass for ease of cutting, and chuck it up in a vice and start drilling! i can sling this one around pretty fast. i dont use round bars as i lift the the bar all the time and play a lot of single strings while open notes ring. this is a shubb sp1 bar. i cut some off the end too. it sounds pretty good.

I've been using one of Wayne Johnson's anodized aluminum bullet bars and find it to be nice and light yet with a hard surface that provides good sustain. Has more sustain that any Delrin, Bakelite, or Paloma bars I've used. At a reasonable cost of approx. $25 delivered you should give one a try.
As always, YMMV. |

Ditto on what Steven said above. I would not stay it is my go to bar. It is a nice bar, it is light and the dimensions seem a little bit enlarged. That might me a plus of you.

Diamondbottle neck slides are great. They are lightweight and have a great tone and sustain. Ian also is a great person to do business with. _________________ Blues in a doggy bag, is what I got to eat! |

Wow, Bill, that's neat. As holly as that bar is, I would think it would really shine for Church gigs... _________________ Stop by the Steel Store at: www.markvanallen.com
