It's been sold or traded on the forum 4 or 5 times...
I've got it now, but I am just curious.
Thought I'd ask the experts.
3 & 6 & 1 wrist/forearm lever.

I have no idea why people would hate this particular guitar. A really striking color scheme!
The Rains steels that I've heard on videos happened to be D-10's, and they sounded fine to me--I remember one video featuring Gary Carpenter playing his D-10--a great player and sounding fine, too!
The undercarriage looks spectacular! I'm particularly interested in the clever design of the right knee lever "stop". Really easy to get to and adjust. That design, as well as all the rest of the hardware, are made in an extra heavy duty fashion, that really impresses me! Enjoy!!!! |

Unless it sounds or plays badly (doubtful) it's hard to imagine anyone hating it. Intimidating number of levers?
Wallace-TT, abalone trim, 10 split screws, wrist lever.
Tommy, I assume you love it, but PM me if you hate it |

consider that each time someone wanted to sell, somebody "loved it" enough to buy it.
Ive seen a lot of fine steels sit on this site and not sell, or take quite a while to move.
Id feel good about the fact that this one was able to sell, many times. |

This is just a shot in the dark, but my guess would be the David Hartley videos. They buy the loaded Rains guitar and expect it to sound the same as it does in his videos!! But it doesn’t because David isn’t playing it. Then, out of frustration, they put it up for sale. _________________ 1967 Emmons Bolt On, 1995 Mullen PRP 3x5,Nashville 112, JOYO Digital Delay, Goodrich Volume Pedal, Livesteel Strings |

You're probably right, Jason. In similar fashion, I've known a lot of players who bought Emmons guitars, thinking that it would help them sound like Buddy Emmons.
Didn't work for them, either. |

Yeah, gotta go along with that...
The Rains in question is a fine guitar, but the color scheme is an acquired taste..
Not a big fan of highly dyed maple bodies either..
A little as an accent is fine, but too many are overdon.. There is a reason guys pay a premium for old steels with really nicely done, natural finish lacquer body guitars.. Any time a clean natural finish Bud, ZB, Fulawka, Emmons comes up for sale, its priced higher and sells faster than its mica body counterpart... bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

I'm not a fan of blue guitars usually, but that two tone Mica Rains is a pretty classy looking PSG !
Along with Ken Byng's Blue burst Show Pro it's one of the best I have seen.... in Blue :-} _________________ 14'Zumsteel Hybrid D10 9+9

I'm not all that fond of fussy decoration but the mechanics on this guitar look first class.
It's all the E9 you'd ever need. I love that wrist-lever! _________________ Roger Rettig: Emmons D10, Quilter TT-12 & TT-15, B-bender Teles and Martins - and, at last, a Gibson Super 400!

As the latest owner, I don't hate it.
I'm digging it.
It's a very toneful guitar.
I'll have to get Steelers Choice to make me a two tone seat to match. |

"It's been sold or traded on the forum 4 or 5 times... "
I'm going to assume that these 4-5 people who bought/traded this guitar saw a picture of it beforehand.
Therefore, they knew that it was blue.
Or had a unique color scheme.
Or wasn't lacquer.
If they didn't like blue, or didn't want its color scheme, or wanted lacquer, then why did they buy it.....then sell/trade it?
What am I missing? |
