Just got hold of a picture of my Grandfather Bishop Dwight Moody on Steel, my Father Bo on Lead Guitar, my Grandmother Ella on Rhythm Guitar and my Aunt Carolyn on Accordion.
Bo still has that old D8 National.
This picture was taken in 1956.
The picture also gives you a clue why Bo was a good High School basket ball player as well.
How about some family music group photos with steel you might like to share here.

I started on a triple 8 National. I traded it in on my first pedal steel. Then, my first wife bought me a double 8, like in the picture. Those old Nationals have personality. _________________ Carter D10 8p/8k, Dekley S10 3p/4k C6 setup,Regal RD40 Dobro, Recording King Professional Dobro, NV400, NV112,Ibanez Gio guitar, Epiphone SG Special (open D slide guitar) . My dad had one just like that including the stand. He later modified it by going with three screw in legs. |

Rick,
I was/am left handed. My twin brother is not. My brother didn't play very long. I don't remember when I switched to right hand playing. It must have been when I bought a new Fender "Champ" in 1961.

Wow great picture Jerry. You guys got the jump on me I didn't even get interested in steel until about 1978.
About the same time it occurred to me I might not be another Chet Atkins |
