I am looking to mount my Pedal board and effects onto a stand of some kind so that I have easy access while playing my pedal steel. I am looking for a unit with multiple ins and outs, with toggle switches to run my effects in. That way I can leave all the pedals on but select which ones will be used via a toggle switch. does anybody know of such a unit? Or will I have to build my own? Anyone interested in building me one? THanks

It's called a "looper." there are very good ones if you look around. The good ones are pricy.

Ditto on Loop Master. Very robust products in almost any conceivable arrangement. Check out all of their products and I think you will find a solution. There are a few with toggle switches versus stomp switches as well. They will probably build you whatever you want if you do not see exactly what you are looking for.

If you're handy with a soldering iron,it would be easy to build an accessable switch board connected to the pedal board. Most effects use a momentary switch, so another wired in parallel would also work.

Boss builds a box that can do that with.
I use it in conjuntion with my organ and Leslie pedals.

i'd say spend some time playing with a simple basic setup. you don't need effects if you're not really even practicing, let alone gigging.
and having so many effects in line that you need a switching console is just unnecessary.

oh, that's good that you're working. what effects are you using? i find that delay and distortion pretty much cover my needs.

The one thing that I could not find, Jeff, was someone who would make me a board with toggles instead of stomp switches. So I made my own.
I would not call it simple--it required patience, careful planning, decent soldering chops and semi-sobriety.

Yeah Chris. Im using a bbe sonic stomp, digital delay, tube screamer o/d, reverb pedal and pog. I dont really use anything but delay and reverb normally but i like having quick access when recording and or playing live.

Jon & I were simultaneously making upright, vertical pedalboards. But his looper with toggles is what gave me that idea. He used DPDT toggles but I wanted the bling of LEDs (not necessary since you can tell the toggle's status just by looking at it) so it required 3PDT switches.

Alan--I don't want to mis-state the facts so I'll hedge---in the course of my researching I found several companies that do very similar products. I am not 100% certain Loopmaster was the one who said no. Whoever it was, right around then I found the 3PDT switches I needed and I decided that I wanted to do it myself.
I was able to customize it with a master bypass switch and a tuner-out.
Basically, it was an excuse to launch a project.

It is entirely possible that you could find someone to do the toggle option. I would expect them to charge extra but I can't justify it being a whole lot more.

Jeff,
I don't know how big your pedal board is, but in the interest of carrying fewer things to a gig, I recently picked up a pair of forumite Dale Hansen's Pro Scaffs. They mount to the side of your pac-a-seat and let you place your pedal board there. Great for tinkerers, and very reasonably priced.

Here's Dale's most recent thread on his products: http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=277786
