Dennis, My favorite of this Song [the Boxer} is preformed by Alison Krauss, Shawn Colvin and Jerry Douglas on Dobro. Douglas has a nice feature on this rendition. Also on UT. Wish I could get a copy of the Sheet music.

Trying to figure out the tuning there, any ideas? The song goes in C and Jerry Douglas seems to be playing a lot around fifth fret abouts (and open strings in the turning points).

So some kind of open G I guess, but I cannot figure out the moves on GBDGBD.

Standard dobro open G. This version might be easier for you disect.

The first time around he states the melody in the V chord position using hammer-ons and open strings. He goes on from there. Several brilliant solos imo.

Buy the CD. It's pretty awesome.

Thanks!

Me being new to dobroing: standard open G meaning the one I use, from low to high GBDGBD?

Edit: excellent version this one with Allison Krause! Goes in F, played in G position with one step down tuned guitars it seems. Dobro in open F. Easier to figure out.

I think I have to play this song in C.
