I'm the steel player on this new release by Tandem Felix. Played on the E9th neck of my Carter D-10, through a Line 6 Pod XT (no amp).

The second song "Ryan Hoguet" doesn't have steel.

I never met these folks. They sent me their tracks via email and I recorded my parts in my home studio. I didn't even know they were from Dublin.

I'd take it as an honor that these folks picked you to add to their kind of lush sound, and your track does so.

It's a nice contrast with 'Moon Tingles' and 'Mandarin,' more 'conventional' figures. You added a lot, never too much.
Really nice tone on those figures. Beautiful, b0b.

How did they find you b0b? Do you advertise yourself for remote sessions, was it your international fame as the SGF founder, or something else?

I answered a call for a steel guitarist on Reddit. I think it was in www.reddit.com/r/WeAreTheMusicMakers/, a very active subreddit with a healthy mix of amateurs and pros.

Music production is the art of removing what doesn't belong. They removed a lot of what I played. I wasn't nearly so tasteful as the finished tracks imply.

In an interview, bandleader David Tapley said this about me:
Quote:
The pedal steel is played by a veteran musician from California called Bobby Lee (maybe that’s why it sounds West-Coast…?). He was this old-school computer programmer from back when PCs ran on Diesel. I met him on the internet and offered to buy him a crate of beer to record some steel guitar on our first record. He did it for free.

I wasn't so generous on the second record. Winking

Oh yeah?

I wrote most of the lyrics to the songs on “Comma” when I was very nervous and was suffering with anxiety.

Maybe he should have titled the album 'Coma.' Oh yeah!

Nothing like an old school West Coast steeler to calm the angst of youth once you get past the smell of diesel fuel.
I meant to say it was an honor for them. Hope you made them cough up two cases for Comma.

Give the guy a break, Charlie. He put a lot of heart into these songs. If you can't say something nice...

You're right, b0b, even in fun. Apologies where needed, including Mr. Tapley.

Edit: I shoulda scrolled down more - sorry.

"West Coast Diesel Fumes" would be a good band name.
