Hi all,

This afternoon a very long time friend of mine (Jelle Biel, Koos' brother) posted this song from United Steels of Europe to YouTube.

It's a track called "Steel, Steel, Steel" recorded in 1987 from the CD "Divine Lines", dedicated to Scotty's International Steel Guitar Convention and in honor of some famous pedal steel guitar players.

The musicians on this album are: Koos Biel, Nils Tuxen, Gerry Hogan, Hans Molenaar, Jan Hartman and yours truly. Hope you like it:

A terrific performance by all concerned.

A true 'western swing' demonstration.

Was all that steel playin' by just one guy?

Tell us more. THANKS

Thanks Ray and Danny!

Ray, it is almost 30 years ago since we recorded this album Wink But besides playing keyboards and singing lead vocals on that song, I also played Three Picks (on a Framus pedal steel guitar) and some of the harmony parts in the track.

Tom Brumley was (I think) done by Gerry Hogan, Jimmy Crawford was Nils Tuxen, I honestly don't remember who did "Remington Ride", Buddy Emmons was Koos Biel and Steel Guitar Rag was done by me to the best of my recollection.

The song was written by Nils Tuxen (who also played electric guitar on the track) co-produced and engineered by him and me and recorded to a Fostex 16 track tape recorder in his basement near Hamburg, Germany.

Thanks again for your kind comment!

Hi Russ! Man, it has been ages since we saw each other! I hope all is well with you. The last time was when I played with The United Steels of Europe at Scotty's International Steel Guitar Convention in the 80's and you so kindly offered me to use your pedal steel with a Jimmy Day setup so I didn't have to fly my super heavy weight double neck Framus steel from the Netherlands to St.Louis Very Happy

Thanks a million again for helping me out! Hopefully there will be another opportunity in the future to attend the Convention and see you again!

Hi Roger, thanks for your kind comment! For those of you who don't have this CD. Here's another track from it called "Beyond the point of no return" written by Nils Tuxen.

Koos Biel on steel guitar, Nils on electric guitar, Jan Hartman on bass, Hans Molenaar on drums and me on vocals, keyboards, six-string bass and I believe acoustic guitar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yn7xrHZAo1Q

Hi André,
how good to hear from you! It´s been a long time, in fack way too long. I´ve just returned with Martina fron a 2-week trip to the states which ended in Dallas where I for the first time participated in the Texas Steel Guitar Jamboree. Lots of fun.

Hope you and Roger and Russ are all doing good and also hope to see you all soon.

Take care,

Nils

Hi, Nils!

Doing fine, thanks. It's been far too long since I saw you last which, I believe, was either the 2000 or the 2002 ISGC. Time flies...

One of these days, eh? Be well.

Hello dear Nils!

Great to hear from you, too! It has been indeed way too long since the last time we met. Very nice to see you're still playing and having fun. I'm doing fine and still work as a fulltime musician. Recording sessions, running a studio here at home and touring all over the place. My regular band for the past couple of years is called "Music Road Pilots" (with Hans Molenaar on drums) : http://www.musicroadpilots.com/ and we also have a FB page. I play pedal steel in that band (and occasionally sing) so, no more keyboards/guitar anymore.

I still regularly speak with Koos Biel (and his brother Jelle), played the same stage with MRP in the south of France a few years back with our mutual old friends Charlie McCoy and Jean-Yves Lozac'h and keep in touch with Downs Thompson (who's touring with Clay Walker). Also saw Gerry Hogan again who played with Albert Lee near my home.

I hope you and Martina are doing well and also hope to see you both again in the future!

Take care and kind regards,

André.
