What a bargain. I wonder if it would cost more if it had some scratches (or "extra mojo.")

That brand was also made for music teaching studios, and could be ordered with the student's name on them.

I had one some years ago, similar to that one, and made it into a 7 string.

That one appears to have a different pickup & bridge etc than original...

Poor, lost soul. I wonder how sellers like this dream up these insane prices? These cheapo Asian imports barely qualify as playable instruments and can be bought for $79 new. And not worth every penny!

Duely noted. I've spent the last week combing the web for info on anything "steel" and I'm amazed at the attitude that anything old is more valuable! Mostly non-descriptive listings and greedy wannabe resalers that should stick to doing garage sales. Are there any reliable sources for decent valued lap steels out there?

note to self; after looking at my post again it might appear that I am criticizing this site - nope - just pointing out that the clowns show up everywhere)

I have come to the conclusion that no info and really bad photos means they are trying to push their s#%t off on somebody or they are just junk merchants that have no interest in musical instruments. I wish these people would stay out of the forums.

Now be Nice like Forum members are. Notice she did say "or best offer" which tell me that maybe she really doesn't know the true value of the instrument she is holding. It could be less then $470.00, yaknow [a lot less]. If she put it up here on the Forum, which she probably wouldn't for a number of reasons, first of which is she probably never heard of this fine establishment. However if she did then we could give her some counsel on pricing and value.

Sorry to be intolerant but there is no "she", there is no "or best offer" here - he knows exactly what he is doing. He is a self proclaimed guitar dealer and in guitar service work! You think he doesn't know what that thing is worth (isn't worth)? To make it worse, he is a teacher. That's the mentality I want teaching my kid*#!? I suppose this could be a mistake?

Actually... I think it's a "she". She is wearing fingernail polish and appears to have, uh... breasts. Laughing

She has "0" feedback. No history of sales or purchases on eBay. This is obviously a young girl who has a cheapo $79 Asian made lap steel that she's hoping someone will pay a lot of money for. You know, just pull a number out of a hat... $400, $450, $500, whatever. It's a case of immaturity, ignorance, stupidity, whatever. I'm tempted to send her links to several music web sites selling the same product (different brands) new for $79, but she'd probably ignore it. I did some dumb things when I was 14 too! Cool

Tom, if you're referring to me, I can assure you I have nothing to do with this listing. I was simply looking on Ebay for steel guitars (as many of us do), and came across this listing. I thought it was so funny & absurd that someone would be asking $470 for a $79 import lap steel, that I posted a link on the Forum.

In my original post, when I said "WHAT A BARGAIN!!", that was sarcasm.

Huh? Tom, I think you're looking at a different auction than we are. Who it this "he" you keep referring to?

OBVIOUS MISUNDERSTANDING, sorry about that Steve! - your listing was misleading as though it really was a great deal and clearly I wasn't the only one fooled by it. After all you did attach yourself to this "sale". I apologize for my reaction. In my early days of shopping for guitars I got ripped hard by a bait & switch very similar to this situation. You might be more careful in the future what you associate your name with (just saying) and I prbably should keep my mouth shut and let people learn for themselves I guess. My apologies to anyone who might have looked at this thread, I over reacted. I suppose this proves the point "buyer be ware". TW
