I play some 6string lap in key of E tuned E,B, G#, E, B, G#. I was told by a fellow steel player I should be able to play C6th with out too much trouble. Would some one list tuning and what key would open be. Thank you Wes _________________ Justice S10 Jr, Gibson Electra 6string, Boss Katana 100, Steelers Choice ,Gretsch 6 string lap, Hilton VP |

I've tried a 6 string C6th. After my 8 string Dobro and D-10 steel, I found it frustrating.
I chose C-E-G-A-C-E _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects |

Although there ARE other ways of getting C6th on a 6, here's why I chose it.
1) the corner slants involving the E and C strings on one fret and the G string one fret down (making a G9th chord at the 5th and 4th frets), and the lower E string one fret below the C and A strings (Bb7 at frets 5 and 4) are easier there than moving them to other places
2) The scale pocket that Jeff Newman called "OBAIL" falls on strings 5-2, a bit easier than moving them 4-1 or 6-3.
3) I prefer putting the 6 in the middle of things. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
