I'll let the Absolutists have it their way: we'll say this National lap steel has been repainted. (We'll ignore the fact that the L9### serial number is die-stamped through the paint we see here. If it wasn't specifically detailed in the catalogs, it could never have happened, dontcha know? I do wonder about the rear felt, as it completely covers the access panel.)

So for sale at a price ($600 + shipping + Paypal) that presumes a nonoriginal finish. Bone saddle is a replacement; original would have been rosewood.

This appears to be a first version of this model (single volume knob, no tone) introduced ca. 1935-36, although the serial number dates to 1939.

The case pictured is NOT included (old Fender student Musicmaster/Duo-Sonic/Mustang case) unless you want it for an extra $100 (case has crush damage to curve on the top panel). Otherwise this will be bubble-wrapped and/or double-boxed.

Seems like a steel!!!

The rear felt looks period and they did cover the access panel, they were built to last not be adjusted replaced etc.

Regards

Lee
