Here is an old Recording King lap steel:
Recording King was one of the house brands that was sold by Montgomery Ward. They were supplied to Wards by various manufacturers; pretty sure that this one was built by Regal. Don't know too much about it besides the fact that it's obviously quite old. Exact vintage unclear. If any one knows for sure, please chime in.
Sorry, no case. The scale length is about 23-inches. The original strip tuners appear to have been replaced long ago. Photos of some early Regals reveal that they were equipped with stamped metal covers over their open geared tuner strips. It appears that this instrument also once had them, but they're long gone. When I got the Recording King, all the plastic tuner buttons were missing. I replaced them with new black buttons from Stewart-MacDonald.
Presently set up for standard C6 (E-C-A-G-E-C). Strings are .017 .020 .024p .026w .030 .038. Good-sounding instrument that has a nice, open, airy sound. Pots are not noisy at all, but the tone control does not seem to do much.
$250.00 shipped via US Mail in the lower 48. USA shipping only.
Thanks for looking.
