my spin on a classic design. i moved the full hard maple square neck into the body several inches. i see no need to use the "underarm" tele neck pocket when you can add a lot of strength and sustain by doing it this way. you also dont have to reach so far to the left to play in first position. sealed tuners with the "ledge" i use so that i can keep the rest of the wood in the headstock for strength and sustain. nice thick aluminum bridge and a dual coil blade pickup with a coil tap switch that gives you humbucker or single coil. PINE body! nice tight grain pine that has become a surprising popular wood choice these days. the earliest teles that leo fender made were of pine. nice top end and very resonant. 23" scale and 3/8ths spacing. neck is offset just a little to give a nice area for your wrist and forearm to rest on if needed. just wanted to show my non pedal buds here what i have been tinkering with. thx!!!

Very nice, Bill! Is the neck glued in or bolted on?

That's really cool, Bill. I'm a Tele nut, love the vibe.

Hi Bill,
I love it. Tele's are the most basic and probably best sounding guitars, thanks Leo and his team. I made a Lap Steel from an old Strat body with the horns cut down and attached an Eko Ranger neck to it. I "beefed up" the neck using some pine strips down back and sides, suitably shaped and smoothed with car body filler!! The pickup I used was an Ibanez Jazz single coil and it sounded great. unfortunately I don't have it any more as my son grabbed it when he visited me!!!
See the picture attached. It may not look great, but the sound was fine.

Great Job Bill.

its like AJ Ghent's but his is an 8 string Tele Custom lap steel. I think its name needs to change and be called a Standing steel or something as both you and AJ won't be sitting when you play it.

Well, I call mine the Strap Steel. It was designed to be played standing up. Just seemed to make sense.
