I have a slight issue with my Evans FET500 LV reverb. The notorious little green wire broke inside the old Accutronics reverb pan (#8FB2B1F) so I ordered a new MOD Reverb Pan #8FB3C1B (recommended replacement) from Amplified Parts. The MOD Reverb Pan has the same input/output impedance as the old Accutronics pan, however, whenever I connected the new MOD reverb pan to the amp, it was unusable, couldn't turn the reverb knob beyond 1&1/2 or 2. I soldered the little green wire back in place in the old Accutronics reverb pan and re-installed it, works ok but seems kind of weak. I've heard so many good things regarding the new MOD reverb pans in Ken Fox's amps, Tim Marcus's Milkman amps as well as those that are being installed by owners of Nashville 112's. I've used the search function on the Forum to look for a possible alternative only to learn that the old Accutronics pan is no longer available. Does anyone have any ideas for a MOD reverb pan other than what I tried that would work in the Evans FET500 LV? Now, having said all of that, I primarily use Strymon effects with both of my Evans amps anyway. But still, I would kind of like to have a correct and workable reverb in the amp if the need should ever arise, guess it's an OCD thing, ha. Thanks to all in advance for any suggestions.

Everything I've heard says that the reverb circuit in those amps had a poor result.
I gave up and used outboard. _________________ 2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)

I gave up on the reverb on my Evans FET500 LV. The reverb circuit is pretty worthless regardless of what tank you put in it. It was that way brand new too so I just went with outboard reverb when using it. |

Thanks guys, I suspected as much. It's one mighty fine amp, however, the reverb is a weak link. I used a couple of Evans amps in the distant past, don't remember very much about the reverb, just needed the volume. The reverb is working normally after I soldered the little green wire back to "whatever". I've also ordered another MOD pan that might be an adequate replacement, input impedance is slightly less but the output is the same. I use a Strymon El Capistan for delay and reverb anyway with both, my SE500 and FET500. |

Jerry,
I recently replaced the verb pan in my 1995 Evans FET 500 with the MOD brand pan.
Hummed like the dickens. Called Derrell Stephans. He had me reverse the plugs and
Presto! The verb sounds great. It is quiet, lush and I only turn the knob to 3 and that's almost to much! |

Tommy, thank you! I've just now re-installed the new MOD pan, reversed the cables.....perfect, just as you described. Derrell had just gone thru the amp not long before I got it, everything is working 100%.
Once again, thank you very much. |

Judging by the last 4 digits and letters the tanks are not the same. The mod tank is a long delay. The original tank is a medium delay. The mounting orientation is different and the input/output jacks are wired differently. You can locate the Accutronics codes and easily compare the differences |

Thank you Ken, that's correct, 8FB2B1F, just what I need. It's a Short, 3 spring unit, 1475 ohm input/2250 ohm output, medium decay 1.75-3.0, input grounded/output insulated, no lock, mounted vertical, output up. I can match all of the numbers except for "#2, medium decay" and "F, on end/output up". If I could just get the other numbers to match, I have room to mount it practically anyway or anywhere. I had previously done a search on the Forum under your name (as I value your expertise but didn't want to be bothersome) and found where you had mentioned that you had once used a Peavey unit that had a slightly lower input but it worked anyway. I've called both, Amplified Parts and New Sensor as well as looked everywhere on the internet to no avail. Anything with that number would have been ok, didn't matter if it was Belton, MOD, or Accutronic. I've called just about everybody except our buddy in Thailand...and I have both his email and cell# somewhere. I'm open to any ideas and or suggestions. |

After searching nearly everywhere, I found the correct reverb tank 8FB2B1F practically right here in my back yard at Studio Sound Electronics in Clearwater, FL. This tank was very difficult to locate as none of the usual suppliers even still listed it in their available parts. So, to those owners of Evans FET500 LV amps....the original tank is still available. Meanwhile, Tommy's suggestion surely worked on the other tank that I was temporarily using. I'm a happy man. |

I installed an 8FB3C1B tank in my JE200 yesterday and instead of putting it in the reverb pouch I have it attached to springs as a shock mount and I'll see if this helps with the jarring while carrying the amp. Under the amp head are 2 jacks and one has a red dot so I plugged the red cable there. On the tank Black is Input and White is output. I was worried that mixing these but it sounds like it's Ok. |
