Hi,
If you go under this topic from last year, there are some pics there: Topic: New Zum Encore just delivered
I have an Encore on order too, and had a similar dilemma. The wood grain pics on Google images varied a lot, so I just ended up going with a black finish |

The thing with the wood grain for me, as well, was how much variation there seems to be,at least in all the pics i've found....saw one that i really liked that i think would be nice with a black top.don't know if it's really darker than some,or just the lighting ?????...i really would love to do the two tone but with it being kind of "iffy" on what grain pattern & coloring i'm going to get,i guess,i'll probably just go with black to be safe also.

Here is a pic Doug sent me the other day...still,it's sorta hard to get a feel for what the result wood be...i like a really dark grain.it's really gettin tough-black or roll the dice...i'm going to be living with it a good while(i hope)....btw,my wife told me that if i ask her one more time to "look at something for me"-that i should probably go with black & blue, cause then the steel & i will match.

Nice looking guitar Mule but I would like Black so the inlay would be more outstanding. Just my two cents, J.R. _________________ NOTHING..Sold it all. J.R. Rose |

the dark wood grain looks real nice, to me...
i'm sure it'd look just fine with a black top. it contrasts well with a black cat, at least.

Bob,
This ought to be the day!
Ordering a new Encore, now that's is a very compelling idea. Ya sure can't find a used one for sale.
Just curious, how long was the wait?

She got here in great shape...despite the ride & the cold(our high was in the 30s day of delivery)it was pretty much right in tune when i put the tuner on it !!! Dan,i got on the list in August i think...well worth the wait & Doug is great to deal with...i'm pretty doggone happy...i was a little worried about the transition @ first, when i set it up as i've pretty much always played D10s @ first, then SD10s...but it got comfortable pretty quick...only a couple of days but i'm gettin settled in...can't wait for Tuesday-i get out of work @ 11a.m. & off Wednesday & Thursday !!! I know what i'm gonna be doin !!! I think it's an awful lot of steel for the money.

4x5, triple lower/triple raise changer, tunable splits, configurable undercarriage, TrueTone (great P/U choice), "an awful lot of steel for the money..." is understating it. You got yourself a no-compromise horn!
How did Doug set up your 4th pedal? Can you get parts from Doug to add/change pulls?Â
Shouldn't take you long to adapt to the S10. And there is no learning curve to appreciate 41 pounds in the case.

4th is in the "0" spot & is lowering 5,6 & 10,i guess to whatever standard Franklin pedal is-i have to admit,it's sort of a mystery to me still.never used a fourth pedal really.whatever it is,it's a mighty nice change.will be glad to get some time to know it this week.I might add that with my limited technical knowledge of where the Franklin pedal is often used,it should open up a whole new learning experience for me-now,maybe i can learn some of those demolished chords....ooops,i meant diminished chords. |
