I have a six string lap steel that I have built. I have a single string half step pull set up on the third string that I put together from axel shaft collars that works very well. I can finish it out by adding a simple bent piece of stainless steel rod for a knee lever. I was thinking also of using a brake cable from a bike hooked up to some sort of foot pedal.

I am sure that some of you guys have done this in the past on non pedal guitars. Please give me some ideas on a makeshift cable/foot pedal set up for this.
