Topic: mullen 2nd string drop |

| Here's one..my mullen second string drop all of a sudden doesn't work? Loosened off string nylon tuner still no luck..loosened so finger matches others. Returned string but no half step with the second string raise? |

Normally, my guess would be that 1) the screw in the collar holding the pull rod has loosened, 2) the bell crank has loosened on the cross shaft, or 3) the knee lever has loosened on the cross shaft.
However, since I think Mullens have square cross shafts and hooks instead of collars, none of those may apply, depending on the age and operation of your guitar. Have you turned it over and actuated the lever to see what all is / is not moving under there?

What John said.
It's possible to have a ball end in there. I'd bend over to look in the window as you activate the lever and see what's happening...
You can observe a lot just by watching.

What happens when you move the lever?
Is the raise portion going along for the ride? If so, then you have to feed it a drop of oil.
The other likely culprit, if the raise finger stays on the bar, is the nylon nut is worn.
Seriously, look in the changer window, move the E lower lever, watching the 4th string. Look at what happens.
Now move the 2nd string lower. Watch what happens.
The two must be different. They shouldn't.

| Del called me and we fixed it!yes something small..the knee lever stop was chaffing on the bracket off the cross rod...works like new again! Thanks Del |
