I put news strings on my Carter D10 but when I tune the 6 string to G# @439 using the Jeffran tuning then tune the B pedal to A @441 all looks good however when I rechecked the G# it has raised it to 448. I tried this a couple of times and got the same results so I backed the 6th string off as well as the hex nut but ended up with the same results G#@448. If you have any idea's I'd appreciate all comments.

Sounds like new strings that just need a few days of stretching to me.

Don, did you by chance go from a plain to a wound 6th string?

Sounds like overtuning to me.
I bet you went from plain to wound.
Most guitars will make the pull, but you'll have to rerod it. Use a bellcrank hole farthest from the deck.

When I went from plain to wound, I had to change the rodding on P6. The thinner the wire, the more the fingers have to move. For wound strings, the CORE matters, not the total. So you didn't go from .022 to another .022, you went from a .022 to a .008!! (that's a core of 8,and the .007 counts twice)
