I'm also posting this as news in Steel Without Pedals intentionally rather than under For Sale: Steel Guitars.
I'm going to leave this to the integrity of SGF buyers, if any, to pony up the 2.5% donation to b0b for a couple of table steels I saw recently while visiting the family in the heartland. I can't afford them but I'd like to see Forumites wind up with these.
I will send emails and pics to interested parties but won't post seller details here on the Forum. I have no stake in these and am just helping a friend/store owner spread the word.
'50s? Carvin Quad 8. Wow--find another one. Needs two new bridge pieces to be fabricated--originals are plastic and have been damaged and/or crumbled. Very restorable for someone with machining skeelz. Price not set as far as I know. Original hsc.
'50s National D-8 (Grand Console, Console Grand? Grande?)...the one with totem-pole fretmarkers. No legs or leg sockets. Needs tuner new buttons but seems to be all there. Amphenol screw-on connector (as opposed to 1/4" jack.) OHSC. Price (I think) is mid-high hundreds.
All this said, shipping may be a hurdle, but I'll let prospective buyer and owner settle that...

I know this is old, but my brother-in-law sent me a picture of a Carvin quad 8 with the two middle necks unstrung and the inside and outside necks set up. He was in a music store in the southern mid-west. He is totally uneducated about steel, but a good guitar player and best bargain hunter in the continental US. He may go after it, and I am seeking info to aid in his quest.
What ever became of this story, Ben? What did it sell for, or do you know what happened?
Don't see many quads at all, let alone a carvin! _________________ RICK ABBOTT
