Reece,
Can you please tell me what year # 2C140 is? I know its a "Classic",and it started out as a D-12 8/4. It is now a SD-12 4/4 that I plan to set up for Extended E9th.
Thank You for any help you can provide.

....I received your personal email and immediately responded, but obviously you didn't receive it.

The fact your guitar is now a 12 string is somewhat a mystery but not out of the realm of possibility.

Records clearly indicate that serial number as being a 10 string, and although conversion to a 12 string is possible, it is improbable.

MSA production records indicate serial number 2C-140 as being a rosewood double 10 which originally left the factory with 8 pedals and 2 knee levers.

Records further indicate its first destination was Mannys Music, which I believe is/was located in Manhattan New York. The date of manufacture appears to be April 21st 1974.(the date is faded)

Again may I tell you of my concern that you didn't receive my prompt response and express my appreciation of your patience concerning my delayed response.

Thanks for the quick answer!
I'm not sure why I did not receive you reply to my direct e-mail, but when I saw your post about the "blackout" in your area, I posted my question here.
I'll have to get under the guitar and count the holes in the endplate for the back neck and see if there are 10 or 12 of them.
They are no longer visible from the outside, having been covered with a plate.
It's for sure a S-12 4/4 now and with your help, I now know that this one has seen some major surgery in her past!

Wouldn't a D10 be twice as fun? Although I would prefer a D38DD.
